Good Reunion Long Awaited...

Three weeks ago, I logged on to Facebook to find an unexpected message in my in-box. It was a message from an old family friend, Russell Hunger. It simply read,
"Cris, Got a question for you. Give
me a call when you get this. -Russ."
Come to find out, Russ was planning a family vacation and wanted to know if they could swing by on their way through. The answer... Absolutely!

As children growing up, our parents were best friends during the early years, and we spent many Sunday afternoons at their home. Though we moved, and our visits became fewer and farther between, we still crossed paths here and there and even on occasion found time to gather together for a viewing of the infamous 8mm video of a summer long before. But I hadn't seen or heard from any of the Hunger's in over 12 years, so this was a welcomed treat!

Thankfully, even with some unwelcome excitement in Nebraska, they arrived safely here in Idaho. We met up with them Tuesday, March 3rd in Burley, and they followed us the rest of the way to Kelly's home in American Falls, where we spent a fun filled evening, long night of talking , and the following day catching up some more. (I won't mention how much weight we all gained stuffing our faces during that 24 hour period.)

It was so great to see Russ again and to meet his own little family. Melanie was just wonderful. She jumped right in and helped with the uncooperative pizza crust and was so down to earth. We really enjoyed getting to know her! Their gorgeous red-headed trio Samantha, Caleb, and Cory, were a treat as well. I know that Mel thought they were somewhat of a handful, especially Cory with the toothbrushes, but it just reminded me of my kids five years ago. Kids are kids! And they were all just adorable!

Kelly, Danielle, and I were the only ones able to make it. (Jawnie is still living in Virginia, Chad was busy working up in McCall, and mom had a pressing matter that took precedence.) With the exception of Dani's husband, all of our individual family members were there.

We truly enjoyed the visit. It was too short and we were all a little sleep deprived afterwards, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Let's just hope it doesn't take another twelve years to happen. Thanks for including us on your trip!
